Collaborating for Change refers to the need for nonprofits to work with other institutions or individuals for the benefit of their communities. Amidst a world of uncertainty and danger, it is imperative that we join together now and demand justice for those in need.

Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day. On one hand, this is a day to celebrate and honor Indigenous cultures. On the other, it is also a day to recognize their history, the ways in their people have been failed by the systems of North America, and how these destructive patterns continue to hurt Indigenous people today. If we, as members of the system, do not acknowledge these flaws, then chances to support the system’s victims will never be realized.

This short essay illustrates the necessity of nonprofits by sharing the story of Quinn. It discusses the conditions she was in and how she worked with one specific nonprofit, Because, to recover. It also discusses current controversies and threats surrounding nonprofits, and why we must work together to ensure their survival---their ability to keep helping people like Quinn.
